Finished?

I never know if a painting is finished. Always seems like I could work a little bit more. My main focus in these two paintings are the horses so I didn't want to fuss a lot with backgrounds. Please click on the pictures for a larger image.

14 x 18 oil on canvas

"Long Legs" 11 x 14 oil on masonite

On a side note the darn squirrels have finally figured out how to get into my birdfeeder. It took them 2 months this time! It's not like I don't give them corn at their own feeder.

love them they are gorgeous just as is.

We feed our squirrels their own corn too, but they are pigs and eat the bird food like Crack Cocaine.

Wow Jen, Siggy the Psycho turned out wonderful! Really beautiful, and the background color compliments him perfectly!

I know what you mean, it's often hard for me to know when a painting is finished, too.

Jen I think they are perfect - the simple background makes them pop!!! Beautiful work!!! Love the squirrels!!

Absolutely love the horse head Jen! It's wonderful. Died laughing over the squirrels. I did battle with mine for a long time before I got baffles for all my feeder poles and got real sturdy and tall poles! Now they are certified ground eaters. I mean, come on, they get corn and peanuts!!

They look great to me. I love that foal. Squirrels can be a real pain at times. They are always in my feeders as well.

Paintings - perfect, but I know what you mean, I'm always think, one more little dab here.... now there.
The last photo is hysterical, the squirrels empty my bird feeder, then toss it on the ground. I give them a full plate of seeds daily the little oinkers.

Jen, your horse paintings are beautiful, as always! I've heard that squirrels are very smart, and they really are!

Both are awesome!! I hear ya on the 'never know if it's done' thing!! My art teacher said a piece is NEVER done - you can keep doing things on it forever. You just have to stop!

I wish we saw more squirrels here, I've only seen squirrels in Aberdeen not around here. Too many cats killing the young and grey squirrels for the red squirrels to survive :/

hehehee! That second piece makes me giggle. The foal's neck hasn't grown as fast as it's legs. Too cute!

Both look lovely. I'm the same way when making art....I just can't seem to stop fiddling with last minute touches.
To my eye, your two look perfect :)

Silly squirrels!
