The kiddo has decided to finally take a nap today so I could finish (maybe?) a 12" x 12" oil painting of a black Arabian horse. I like the bright turquoise background.
I was working from a photo I took in York, PA at and Arabian show a few years ago. I guess this guy appeals to that kid in me that will always be in love with The Black Stallion. Probably one of the best horse movies ever made.
Here are some pictures...

Jennifer, that's a lovely painting. I love when folks post their progress; always amazing to me to watch things as they transform!
That is a really beautiful painting.
Jenn this is wonderful - the black stallion was one of my favorites!! Can't wait to see the next wip!!!
As usual, it's magical Jen!
Oh gosh, she's so gorgeous... she reminds me of a pretty little mare I used to know.
I loved seeing this horse come alive on the canvas. Thanks for sharing!
I was obsessed with the Black Stallion and spent hours reading and re-reading the books when I was younger :)

I love your paintings! Arabians are my horse of choice. That's all I ever owned. One year we went to Scottsdale to the Nationals. I have never seen any creature as beautiful as these were. The Black Stallion was my favorite movie too.
I remember those days of working during nap time...wish they hadn't gone by so fast now. Your painting is great as always!

Jen, a lovely painting! I love the turquoise sky also. I'll use it sometimes for the Ravens. I love seeing the WIP, need to do more myself.
Keep up the horsing around.
Just fantastic.

Wow, you're artwork is stunning! I need to get back into doing more myself.
Thanks for posting as you go along .It helps me and I'm sure others see how you get to the fianl picture. He is beautiful. I always wanted the Black Stallion but ended up with my white arab stallion instead! Close enough, at least he was black when born!
It turned out very lovely! I also love your photographs on the previous post. They are gorgeous!
You get so much accomplished while your little one is asleep--you should compile them all in a book and give them to her one day--While You Were Napping could be the title. LOL.
This is beautiful, Jen. I too, will always be in love with The Black Stallion... :-)
So glad I have found your blog, lovely work:)
