I have a springtime ritual, every morning, after my coffee, I take a stroll around the yard to see what's blooming and popping up out of the ground. We've only been here about 2 years so some things are surprises and some plants I've just added last year. Every year I plan on adding a new flower garden so eventually there will be little to mow. This year I'm working on a big perennial garden which is half way finished and I doubled the size of my small veggie garden. So here are a few pictures from around the yard as I take my morning walk...
My small veggie garden. Planted 2 tomato plants this week! The lettuce, peas, beets and onions are coming along nicely. I need a bale of straw to put down.
My first radish! Too bad I don't like them. It's cute though, isn't it? My husband will eat it. Friends think I'm weird to grow things I won't eat.
Who doesn't like lilacs? I've been anxiously awaiting the blooming of this bush!
Japanese Laurel, I didn't know it had flowers until now.
My perennial garden half way tilled and planted. Still have to link the two gardens but there were a lot of grape hyacinth planted in that grassy spot I didn't want to disrupt.
Pink Dogwood in the front yard. It looked sick last year but bloomed wonderfully this spring. What's up with that?
Our small little house has a wonderful 1/2 acre yard. One of the nicest parts are the 7 large azaleas in front.
Lightning hit one of our mature pine trees last week. Not sure what's going to happen to this poor guy.
Melody Lea Lamb used one of my frog photos I posted a few days ago to create this gorgeous original Frog Prince ACEO. It is so nice, I just had to share. Click HERE to purchase him (wish I had the money:) .

How lovely! I loved taking a stroll through your garden! I've been bitten by the same bug, the flowers they enchant me!
Your garden is lovely Jen! And it looks huge too!
I have tomatoes planted in my greenhouse, but not outdoors yet!
Wandering round the garden with a cup of tea, and looking to see what has new buds is one of my greatest pleasures at this time of year.
Wow, what a fine garden! I think I'm still about a month away from any lilac blooms here, sure will be nice. I think your struck tree will be OK, hopefully it can recover. Maybe an arborist would suggest painting that wound? That flowering tree is fantastic - guess it took a year off? Let's call it a sabbatical!! Have a great day - Bonnie
Ok, lots similar with us again - we have a half acre yard that is fairly new to us (moved in last summer) and I also walk around each morning to see what surprises the plants have in store for me. Also, hubby is the radish eater in this house too, lol.
My lilacs are juuuuuust about to bloom, I can't wait!
And I didn't know that was your froggy pic that Melody referenced, how cool!!!
you have a lovely garden :D
those are gorgeous pink flowers! hubby grows veggies too but doesn't eat any of them :p
Nice garden Jennifer! I don't have anything from seed up yet but have planted 30 tomato plants, two rows of corn, two rows of beans, beets, potatoes, 18 pepper plants, cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower and onions! Boy, will I have a lot of work this fall canning all that stuff but it will be good this coming winter! ;-)
You have a beautiful yard!
This year I am going to get my yard in better shape, I have too!
I am inspired and depressed by your post! I am sitting here with 7" of snow and my tomatoes and other flowers and veggies are about a 1/2" high under lights in the house. I envy your stroll through the garden. There is nothing I love more than to sit outside in my garden. It will be a month before that happens so I was happy to stroll through yours. Thank you for sharing. It is beautiful.
The garden looks lovely!
Your yard is beautiful! I hope the tree is okay - the lightning is amazing how it wrapped around the tree!
Looks great, those flowers are beautiful. We decided to do a small garden this year. :D
Psssst! I have a Mini Art award for you over at my blog if you want to come pick it up. :-)
Ow what a cute little radish! And I LOVE Lilac! It's that time of year when I'm trying to put lilac flowers into all of my vials!
I'm loving your gardening pictures--it's where my brain is right now. :) I NEED ideas!!
