A Walk in the Woods

Sunday was a glorious day. The spring air was warm and carried on the breeze was the delightful smell of rich, wet earth and blooming wildflowers. Since I'm cooped up in the house most of the week, we thought we would go to Lancaster Central Park for a hike through the woods.
The trail we chose started out at an old covered bridge and followed a small river. The wildflowers were so pretty, I wish I had taken more photos of them. There were also these teeny tiny light blue butterflies which I had never seen before.
They were way too fast for me to take their photo (as was the snake we met). The turtle was nice and allowed me to snap his photo - I wonder what kind he is?

I also want to thank Lyndy and Kristen for my most recent blog awards. Please stop by their websites when you have the chance...

Love your blog. Really great photos. The mini pendants are pretty neat. Just want to let you know that you've been surfed. Please drop by my blog to see what that means for you. Thanks ~verna

That covered bridge is great, we don't have anything like that here! No water = no bridges. :)

You did have a beautiful day. I've been to Lancaster county with my mother one time. It was beautiful. We have apond in front of our house and it's full of turtles. They climb on the banks and sun themselves all summer. Once in a while we get a huge Snapper too. They are really scarey. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I see you and your new camera get along very well.

I love that bridge! Looks like a wonderful day. I've seen turtles like that around the ponds here, but I'm not sure what kind they are...box turtle?

I love the pictures...especially the covered bridge. Wow, Lancaster has a Central Park? You mean New York isn't the only one with a Central Park...and isn't the center of the Universe?? :D

Wow, Jen, you are not helping me keep the country fantasies in check with these pics! :)

Beautiful! I love the turtle picture.... Does anyone else see a turtle in the wood he's standing on as well? Kinda funny, but it almost looks like he's mating. :)

Days like that are what life is all about! Thanks for sharing!
