Christmas Signs

When I left my job and started selling on Ebay 10 years ago my user name was horsesigns and that's pretty much all I did. I don't paint as many horse signs now but my favorite time of year to do them is Christmas. I love to paint horses with wreaths, decorations, Christmas trees, snowmen, galloping through the snow...

My first one of the Season this year is an elegant dark bay hunter. He reminds me a bit of my thoroughbred Duncan that I had to sell 3 years ago to buy our house. With money being tight we couldn't justify the expense and you know how expensive horses are! I really do miss him. Raised him from the second he was born until he was 4. I hope where ever he is now, he is being loved.

Duncan standing for the first time.

Duncan as a 4 year old.

I will probably have this sign up on Ebay tonight or tomorrow. However, if someone would like to save me the ebay fees, I will offer it today on my blog for the price of $75 plus exact shipping cost to your area.

Awww, so cute!

We board breeding Quarter Horses... and my Dad calls all the foals "puppies" and is so happy when we have a yard full of "puppies" lol!

Was it hard to decide to leave your job to sell art? How did you know it was time?!

Duncan is so beautiful! I am sure he is being well cared for. The sign is absolutely gorgeous. I love that he's holding a Christmas ornament and wearing a wreath. Lovely. :) Theresa

Handsome fellow that Duncan boy! And a most beautful sign as well. What disipline were you schooling him in when that photo was taken?

Thank you so much for all the kind comments.
Deborah, I was hoping Duncan would become a nice English pleasure horse. Something I could take on the trails, pop over some jumps and compete in a few local shows.

Heather, It wasn't hard for me to start out on my own. I was working for a company handpainting furniture and selling some on my own when I discovered ebay. At the same time we moved to a thoroughbred farm where I traded feeding the horses for rent/electricity/horse board. So without having to pay for a place to live and only having to feed horses AM & PM, it gave me lots of time to paint during the day. I was lucky! Also fortunate enough to be married to someone with a decent steady job to pay the bills.
