Goodbye Flowers

I think the temperature is going down into the 20's tonight so I thought I would go out and pick the last remaining flowers to enjoy in the house.
Goodbye flower friends, see you next year...

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

Oh Jenifer!
How beautiful your fresh flowers are. I absolutely love them. What a shame that the frost is already coming, so the flowers will be gone until Spring. Out here in Phoenix I love being able to have flowers all year long. The rose bushes are just coming out again, and my hibiscus look fabulous. I have asparagus fern that I have planted in the ground aroung my fountain that grows year round. It looks so beautiful.

Emjoy the cool weather though. There are days that I would so love to have Fall and cool weather. Maybe for a couple of weeks is all. No snow though, I don't like the snow.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful pics. Country hugs, Sherry

Hey there! What pretty flowers - and your kitty was so nice to sit and pose with them. My cat would have been chomping away at them quite quickly!
It's very chill here in Connecticut as well. We actually had our first fire in the fireplace last night, which was so lovely. Personally, I LOVE the chilly weather!
Beautiful poem, by the way. :)
Have a great night! Theresa

It's so sad when they go away for the winter. WE always have the Spring to look forward to, but it always seems like such a long time away. Your kitty looks like she's got something in her sights out that window, she looks fierce!

Hi Jennifer, What a super idea to bring the last of the flowers in so as to enjoy thier beauty just a wee bit longer. Throughout the Winter, I'll try and post images of some of our California flowers to help tide you over till Spring.

Love those words about November...heavy frost here last night and the red roses by the back finally bowed their heads in defeat. There were three buds as well, was hoping they'd be able to open, but November won!

Love that poem!

I still have a few blooming beauties hanging on (two I think, haha) but I did cut down all my sunflowers the other day and that was quite the sad moment.

Such beautiful flowers, Jen! I was raking leaves today and uncovered some snapdragons that somehow survived all our frosty nights. :-)

I've still got a few hanging on! They've been rewarded with some warm sunshine and lovely weather. I'm glad they are still here.

Awww, well, at least this means spring will soon be here and then they shall come again! Life is beautiful in it temporary essence--makes us (or should make us!!) appreciate each thing we have, as we have it.

The flowers are lovely and so is kitty! ;)

Those are gorgeous!! Our flowers were gone a long time ago. We had an early freeze that killed everything on the branch/vine. It was horrible--didn't even get to see the leaves change color. :(
