Percheron

Haven't been able to get much done lately with the holiday. Then I had to paint the laundry room since we bought a new washer and dryer - that room was disgusting and really needed it - but I lost another day painting. This week I will be working on some custom horse pendants (interested? they make great gifts). I also started a holiday Shire sign and have a horse and sleigh piece upstairs in my head I hope to complete. I was able to finish a nice Percheron Christmas sign that I just listed on ebay today - 3 day auction. It's even available on an ornament in my Cafepress shop. Make sure you go through my direct link to save money. Ornaments make great gifts for your vet, farrier, barn owner, trainer, instructor, etc.!

I've always really loved this painting. It moves me. Be sure to click on it for a larger view and let me know if it moves you.
It's called An Arab and His Horse in the Desert by Jean-Léon Gérôme (one of my very favorite artists).

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire.

Love your painting, he has bells on too! :-)
The desert painting makes me wonder, is the horse resting or is something wrong? Beautifully painted.

I love your work, and the painting below. Those shots you took at Longwood are something...where is it?

Thanks for visiting.

You are too funny Jen - a disgusting laundry room! That is always the state of mine - LOL! Your painting is breathtaking. And the photo does portray a special bond indeed.

Yes, beautiful and sad.

The painting with the Arab shows a compassionate horseman. He's pulled the tack and quietly comforts his favorite steed.

It moves me, but it makes me sad.

There isn't enough time for anything this time of year, is there?

It is a beautiful painting, but makes me very sad. I always wonder what the story behind it is-what happened to the horse.

Gorgeous new sign! I'd be interested in seeing the pendants - one of my nieces loves horses (she's studying to be a vet), so that might be a great gift for Christmas. :) We're actually going to be putting all our decorations up this weekend...I'm so excited. It's takes several hours, but it's well worth it. :) Take care - Theresa

a strong impression of sadness permeates the painting. what color did you do up in the laundry room? good luck & peaceful hours to complete some more work!

This painting is so sad to me. I wonder what happened to the horse. Was he shot, old age, break a leg? The relationship the Arab guy has with his horse appears very strong and I can feel his sadness. When I was a kid my dad said that the best artists can convey human emtion through their paintings. I think this artist is a master that that. He did one of a gladiator that blows me away! Look it up!

I painted my laundry room Yellow Duckling to match the kitchen (also b/c I'm cheap and had some left over). ;^)

very powerful painting. Makes me wonder a lot of things and the horse, even tho its an odd angle to paint is painted with a lot of detail. Never heard of this artist before but def. going to look into him more.

I love your stuff on your etsy but I wish that some of those necklaces were bookmarks!

I love all the expression you get in your paintings. I feel like I could reach out and give them a nice rub on the neck.

Yes, that painting did move me! I re-watched one of my favorite youtube videos earlier and it's all about beautiful horses and their connections with their people and tears were just pouring out of my eyes uncontrollably - and that was me enjoying it! Haha. :)

Such a beautiful, moving painting. The Arabs respect and honor their handsome steeds. I hope it is just a tender moment between them as the man sat beside his horse as he slept.
