Trickster

I love ravens and I really enjoy painting them. My latest Painted Pony features a raven on both sides.
Many Native American cultures call the raven the Trickster. The story goes that he created everything but the sun, moon and stars which he stole by tricking the people that possessed them. I painted him on my pony at night. He's just hung the moon and is finishing with the stars. One the one side he has a Swarovski Crystal "star" in his mouth. On the other side he is looking up at a crystal star. The horses eyes are crystals and I've painted a raven feather on the base with another crystal.

I have many tricksters in my yard every day - I call them squirrels! I set out a pumpkin for them to eat and they really seem to enjoy it. Sorry the photos aren't better, I took them from my dining room.

I love your pony and I enjoyed the story as well. I learned something new. The squirrel pics are adorable - they are indeed little tricksters.

Doug looked at your Pony and said "Awesome". He bought me 3 for Christmas this year. He'd love to see one of yours for sale.

I always love it when you paint on these ponies--but you do it so rarely! More please! Hmmm....I love crows, too. I'll have to post about it one day :)

The squirrels are super cute, those rascals!

Really beautiful. The native Pacific Northwest cultures have tons of stories about ravens. Owls, too. (Those owls are bad, bad luck!)

I love the raven stories. There is a great one for children~ How Raven Stole the Sun (and gave light to the people.) My class likes to listen to it on story tape, and they love acting it out playing all of the characters.
Your art is truly amazing!

I love your painted pony.
I live in Aachen Germany, there is every year a great riding tournament called CHIO. It is famous, horses and riders came from all the world.
Therefore Aachen as a city of horses, has horsesculptures in the whole city. They are painted and designed in many ways.
You should see that.

Have a great sunday.

This piece is astounding! I love ravens, as well. :) Such majestic birds.

That squirrel is too adorable. We haven't seen too many around here as of late. We believe an owl might live on the premises, which would definitely account for the lack of little furry creatures running about.

Beautiful painting! I love crows/ravens! They are very smart and mysterious.

So good of you to feed the critters in the Winter. I cut up some of my pumpkins for the deer - they seemed to enjoy them too!

Beautiful horse, and story to go with it. Your squirrels look very pesky, but very very adorable!
