Blooming Wednesday

It's a blustery, cold day here in Lancaster County, PA. Not much new is blooming in the garden and hard to take photos of flowers blowing in the wind. I did manage to snap a few..

Ahhh... purple and green ... my favorite!
I love perennial cornflower.

I find this orange/pink snapdragon absolutely delicious!
A type of Alkanet or bugloss.
The front yard of our little cottage. I really need to paint it soon.
Should I stick with the same colors, white and sage green, or should I go with something different?
An English Daisy. Are these just called daisies in England?
My mom came over and we made these sand cast bird baths yesterday. Very easy! All you need is a bag of sand ($2.95), a bag of concrete ($3.95), plastic wrap and some large leaves. We used rhubarb because that is what I had but I would like to make them in summer with elephant ear leaves. Next I think I will stain the concrete green and seal them when they have dried. Here are instructions.

A work in progress photo of my newest painted pony. I resculpted the mane and tail. I wanted this dappled palomino to look like he just lept out of a fairy tale. Not sure what else I will paint on him.

And the palomino pony is just perfect. I love those dapples. He looks like he just stepped out of a fairy tale to me :)

I love your bird baths, thanks for the inspiration and as always your art is wonderful!

Very interesting. I have seen a similar project where the artist removed the inner leaves of a large cabbage, leaving the outer leaves and the base, intact. She proceeded in the same way and was left with a bird hot tub!

I started transplanting all my volunteer cornflowers into one spot and they really re-seeded themselves well for this year! They are popping up thick and many are getting ready to bloom - can't wait!
Never tried those bird baths though I've seen them done - looks like fun!
And I LOVE your painted pony!

Yep, I love that Painted Pony, too. Let us know when it's finished! Your house is perfect. I suppose it would be cute in any color, but it sure is nice with the white as a backdrop for your flowers!

What gorgeous flowers and I LOVE those sand cast bird baths...they are just amazing. Thanks for giving a link to the instructions on how to make them. The weather here has also been ridiculously chilly. The wind was so harsh today, it actually blew our front door open! Your new painted pony is looking so cute. :) Theresa
