The Road Home

I've lived in Lancaster County, PA since I was 19. It is a beautiful place to live and not for a minute do I forget that. One of the most scenic drives is on route 896, the road I take to get to my Mom's house. You often pass more Amish buggies than cars. On Easter Sunday, as we drove back home to East Petersburg, the skies were dark and gloomy. Of course I had to get out my camera for some quick shots while we were dodging the raindrops and buggies.

And this one just makes me chuckle...

Here's a photo I took last fall from my Mom's garden.

And one I took while standing in her driveway last spring.
The girls are planting tobacco.
Not the most exciting place to grow up, surrounded by farm fields.
I appreciate it more now:)

Your pictures are just beautiful! We use to go that area antiquing, so much has changed, so many big industries are pushing out all the beautiful farms.

Love the area! My family is from Danville, PA, not too far away. We'd always see the Amish buggies on the highway on the way there too:)

Beautiful!! I have a hard time taking photographs of the Amish because I don't think they approve of that, right? I just feel like I'm intruding. What do you think? You know more about this than I do.

Lovely photos, as usual!

Beautiful pictures! Last time I was there was over 15 years ago and I went to an Auction at the fire department, I was amazed at the talent of the quilts that they were selling, I bought some smaller ones because I couldn't afford anything else, I have always wanted to go back there.

I loved your photos - they are so atmospheric - and SO different to my life here in rural Wales. I loved the Mule team!
