I'm not a huge vegetable gardener.
Mostly because for the first three years on this property, groundhogs ate everything I tried to grow.
Now that I got rid of our old shed, they have no place to hide and consequently, no place to live.
The buffet is closed.
We're just starting to eat the lettuce and radishes now. There is nothing so nice as free, yummy lettuce. Completely free of chemicals. I love it!
I noticed the peas are starting to bloom.
Such a beautiful flower.
One of the wettest seasons on record. I don't think my tomatoes are happy.
Trying some interesting heirlooms this year: Bloody Butcher, Charlie Chaplin, Kellogg's Breakfast, Sugar Plum and Big Rainbow. Also planted 2 Sungolds and a Brandywine.
Bought a tomatillo plant to try. I see a bug on it.
I just love salsa verde.
I'm in love with the colors on the purple cabbage leaves.
Even planted some strawberries. Fingers crossed I will get to taste these. I even put up a little fence, my feeble attempt to keep out the varmints.

Loooove radishes. Mmmm...
Beautiful lettuces! The rain is causing so much trouble here in our garden. And we saw a vole. I may just decide to do container gardening. Can't wait to hear how your strawberries taste...and birds love to eat those berries, keep an eye out!!

My FIL dug his fence into the ground about 8 inches to keep out the varmints, and it does really well. I want a garden SO bad, but I'll probably need to do the same thing he did and just spend this summer preparing the space, then planting next spring. I LOVE fresh veggies!!! Love to see your garden, too.
Yum! We've had groundhog problems, too. We solved one issue by growing our lettuce in pots on our deck. Our parsley, too. They apparently don't like the scent of basil - so we make sure to grow lots of it. Which is fine by us - pesto! Our strawberries are doing well. I watch them greedily every day - so I can dig in! LOL We're going to have tons of currants, too. Last year I used them for currant scones. Theresa
