Goat Flower Farm

Zoe and I made the short trek over to my friend Carol's house at Goat Flower Farm.

I snapped some nice shots of her fainting goats and mini horses. 

I love their expressions. 

We were just in time for breakfast so everyone was quite eager.

Just finished this black and white Paint Horse holiday sign. I think it may go up on ebay today.

I feel like I've been working on this one piece all week...

Fainting Goats & Minis

Sorry I have been missing from blogland lately. I've been hanging out at Goat Flower Farm taking photos of the goats for registration and their website. These goats are just so sweet, I had to share some photos. Most of them are fainting goats which you really have to see to believe.
Also wanted to mention that I was a featured artist over on The Equinest. Please stop by and check out the interview when you get a chance:^)










The Ellis family also raises miniature horses. I had to sneak in a few photos of their darling minis too!

Ranch Dressing, New Work & Groundhogs

I have been busy as a bee today. Since my little shadow was staying the night at her grandmother's house, I told my husband to take the computer keyboard with him to work so I wouldn't be tempted to surf the net all day (I have an addiction). Well, I guess I wasn't thinking becuase I was still able to surf the net sans typing. Next time he should take the mouse! I was able to complete to more Springtime welcome signs. One with a Miniature Horse and the other features a handsome Palomino Quarter Horse. I would rather be painting with oils on canvas but my signs bring home the bacon and the coffers are a bit low lately. My DH has off for Easter the next 5 days so I really hope to get a painting at least started.

I wanted to thank Angie of Free Rein Art for the super nice blog post about me yesterday. I was very flattered when she asked me over the weekend to send her some pictures of my signs and a bio. When you get the chance stop over to her new blog, Ranch Dressing, to learn a little more about me and also about decorating your house with a cowgirl flair!



Lastly, meet my new nemesis, Mr. Groundhog. He's taken up residence under my shed and is helping himself to the baby romaine lettuce growing in my garden. I am at my wits end with this guy. I have a humane trap set but he's not triggering it for some reason. I keep baitng it and setting it and testing it to see if it works but he eats the food bait and the trap doesn't close. I've tried a few other things, annoying him, ammonia soaked rags around my garden, pinwheels to spook him - nothing works. I think a rifle would work but that would be mean, wouldn't it?
Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Adorable!

There is a farm about a mile down the road from us called Goat Flower Farm. They raise fainting goats and miniature horses. The owner has asked if my daughter could come and help with training one or two of the young minis to carry a rider. Of course we were delighted! So we ventured over there yesterday and were thrilled to discover that one of the minis had a foal this week. He's so small the owner carried him out to the field. Just around 34 pounds at birth! I have never been around minis before so I am just blown away by how cute and tiny they are. Had to share some photos of our morning. I really like the goats too. May have to paint one soon!

Mini Halloween

For all my miniature horse lovers out there I have finally completed the sign I had mentioned in my last post. I think it turned out really well. I especially like the pumkin scarecrow on the horizon.
Mini Horse Halloween Auction

I'm getting more and more excited for Halloween. I bought several cool decorations at TJ Maxx this morning. I was in there looking for shoes for Zoe and found a ton of neat things. Have to go back when they go on sale! Also found out that the Halloween Spirit shop has opened. You know the place, there is one in every town in the fall, they sell mostly sexy witch costumes and such. This one must be run by some real Halloween lovers because they had several large animatronic displays set up. Zoe really liked the haunted hillbilly skeletons for some strange reason. I was impressed!
Now I just need to make a bunch of money so I can get that spooky lifesize witch stirring a cauldron and cackling!

Goat Flower Farm

We made a great new friend this week, Carol Ellis of Goat Flower Farm. I took an oil painting class with her daughter, Kayley, and she invited us to come and see her beautiful critters which included several mini horses, a Paint horse, a lop eared bunny, two cats and many, many goats. Here are some pictures I took today. We look forward to returning - she only lives 2 minutes down the road!









I also managed to complete a Appy Halloween sign today. I should have it on ebay sometime tonight!
