Sketching
I live to create art. Period.
I also have a 3 year old who is active, intelligent and always needing attention.
Often those two things clash. I have found recently that I'm able to sketch sometimes. Because it's portable I can doodle in my sketchbook during a tea party or while she's watching a favorite show. So I thought I would share a few recent sketches since that's all I've been able to do that last two days.
Some will become paintings. Some will become signs. Most are just for fun, to train my eye and ease my boredom.
Cats are always a popular subject since my cat art is not that great, I always need practice. I also find inspiration in the Children's books I read to Zoe like this rabbit.
Often I will start a sketch and Zoe thinks she should help me finish it.
Most are just silly little images that pop in my brain.
What would happen if a unicorn foal and a baby dragon met?
And quite a few are from the gazillion horse photos I've taken over the years. Here are two. One is from a steeplechase and the other was a groom wiping a horse's face before a grand prix jumping event at Devon.
So now that I've shared my doodles, I'd love to see some sketching from all my other blogger friends. It doesn't have to be perfect. Just have fun and make sure you comment here so I can go and see them! Oh, if they take longer than 30 minutes, I call that a drawing, not a sketch!
And if you really want to get inspired and you love horses, don't forget to visit the Whoa Team Blog I just created about a week ago. We're adding new team members all the time!

I love those bottom two. I really like the rabbit and the rooster also.
Great idea to keep the artistic juices aflow. I need to start sketching more!!
I love the dragon and foal!
lovely sketches! I once had my niece color over my beautiful watercolor painting with her crayons. That hurt!
i used to love going to Calloway Gardens with my grandmother to watch the horses.
The baby dragon picture is really cute. Its really intricate with posture of both the unicorn and the dragon :)
Great sketches, love the baby dragon and rabbit! I'll have to look over my sketchbook and see if there's anything worth posting...
Kat, I'm not sure they were worth posting but it's all I got right now:)

BBQ unicorn for dinner? ;)
I really like seeing other people's sketches. Its neat to see how all of the steps it takes to get to the final piece
Hi Jennifer, Clicked over from Linda's blog Beautiful Mustang. Love the artwork you have going on here, I see a really unique energy in your work that is so engaging. I noticed your post below about your new camera. I've been thinking about upgrading, and this one you bought looks interesting. Does the increase in megapixels mostly show only in clarity in enlargements/cropping? Or does it show even in standard shots? Any other pros/cons? Thanks so much, enjoying your blog and artwork!
Jen,
They are so neat, I draw at work when its slow...I will take some pics this weekend. Love the rabbit and rooster.
Smiles,
Sonia

Ok, my dear. I posted some sketches for you. :-)
Your sketches show why you are such a good artist, they already portray great images.
Very fun =) Thanks for sharing!
