Philadelphia Museum of Art

On Sunday we visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I hadn't been there since before Zoe was born and was anxious to see the amazing art within.

Approaching the outside of this incredible building starts my heart a fluttering!

I wonder how many people have jogged up the front steps, turned around and pumped their fists into the air like Rocky Balboa?  It is a wonderful view of Philadelphia.

Inside the great hall is equally amazing with the statue of Diana, Italian tapestries and Calder mobile.

The painting of The Moorish Chief was one of my favorites as a child. Now I get to introduce him to my daughter.

Zoe remembered Degas' Little Dancer from her preschool lesson on art history.

I love watching people look at art and I wonder what they are thinking.
The Large Bathers by Cezanne.

Another favorite section of the museum is the weaponry.
This knight's armor date back to the early 1500's.

I wasn't a fan of the Impressionists growing up but after a visit to The Barnes Foundation last year, I am really starting to appreciate their works.

After a quick look at Boat House Row...

We checked out the Perelman Building across the street.
Very cool carved dogs on the outside.

The Chagall exhibit was very crowded so we didn't stay long.
My family looks ready to head home.

Oh, Jennifer, what a great post! I LOVE museums and galleries; once I'm in, I'm gone for the day. I love the photo of Zoe with "The Little Dancer". And I drool over the one of the knight and horse in armor [I've always had this thing about horses and armor ... past life???]

Happy belated 4th! I could probably spend ALL day at that museum. When I was growing up, impressionist work was my favorite (I still adore Renoir). I am in love with the armor. Thanks for sharing your day!

I LOVE museums. I have never been to this one even though I was in Philly a few years ago. Loved the quick tour your photos provided.
