I love watching birds ever since my Great Aunt Aimee would bring out her field guides and show me all the different types we had in Pennsylvania.
I do the best I can to keep the feeders filled here. In the summer, it's delightful to watch the finches on the sunflower plants. Their little chirps are so beautiful.
This is my favorite hummingbird photo ever.
She was chasing and attacking a butterfly!
"Have you ever observed a humming-bird moving about in an aerial dance among the flowers - a living prismatic gem.... it is a creature of such fairy-like loveliness as to mock all description." ~W.H. Hudson
I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.

Beautiful.
The hummers are amazingly aggressive for such a tiny bird! And I love your quote from Thoreau. And most of all, I love the photos you are taking with your new camera! :)
These are lovely! But I admit to a certain partiality to the rabbit statue :)
Lovely as always! :-)
The shot with the hummer and butterfly is extra special!

Wow, you got some great shots! I reached for my camera the other day when I saw a hummer, and he was gone before I could grab it. He was on my hostas, which are in bloom now.
Love the yellow finches too... they really like my purple coneflowers and black eyed susans.
Great pics, really enjoyed them!
I love the finches too! Such fun to watch at the feeders.
Amazing Hummer shots!!! I can never seem to get them right.
What truly amazing photos! I love all your feathered friends. I adore chickadees...what a lovely shot. :) Thanks for sharing these!
Your shot of the hummingbird above the butterfly is certainly an award-winner. Amazing!
