Here are some photos from the pumpkin carving contest I participated in today. There weren't many carvers since this is the first year, but the ones that came did a very good job. My Headless Horseman carving took 2nd place - $50 and I got to bring my pumpkin home! I wasn't expecting such a nice prize. The best part of the day was meeting all the wonderful people that put this event together and talking with the people as they walked by.
We were awarded with a gorgeous sunset on the way home!
I recently discovered that an Amish farm about 3 miles down my road sells a wide variety of pumpkins in the fall. I knew this place selled dried gourds year round but I had no idea that they had so many for autumn decorating! Needless to say I was in pumpkin heaven (an the prices were great too). I love how they've set up their displays from the pumpkins in the barn windows to the big curly tree branch in on old milk can to the stack of crates with different varieties of gourds labeled for curious minds like me. So if you're in Lancaster County, check it out. It's on Landisville road between Landisville and East Petersburg, right around the corner from Roots Market.
Since so many people enjoyed my pumpkins yesterday, I thought I would share some more pictures from the Chadds Ford Great Pumpkin Carve. These are not my pumpkins and I'm sorry I don't know who carved them. If you happened to be the carver of one of these pumpkins, let me know and I'll give you credit!
I just love cows. These heifers and deer are at Oregon Dairy, a local grocery store.
Gotta have the daily garden photos:)
First pumpkin of the year! I call her my Halloween muse and have her keeping me company in my studio. Think I may capture her portrait in oils.
My newest group of Halloween pendants with out their necklaces yet. I'll be putting these on Ebay tomorrow!
Just a quick thank you to all my blog followers, friends and regular visitors. You truly make my day special. I wish I had the time to comment daily on all the blogs I've come to love!

I'm so excited, my mom just went and paid for our entry into this year's Great Pumpkin Carve in Chadds Ford, PA (at the Historical Society, right next door to Andrew Wyeth's farm). Since she was the first to sign up we have pumpkin number one, just like last year. Perhaps we will be as lucky and win one of the fabulous prizes from Hunt Country Furniture. I am especially excited this year because my husband is taking off work that day so our daughter can come. We'll go to Longwood Gardens early since we'll be in the area and they have the place all decked out for Fall. Here are some photos of our pumpkins from previous carves...
And some photos of OTHER people's pumpkins over the last several years. Sorry, I don't know who the artists are.
