Longwood Lilies

I went to Longwood Gardens today to take advatage of my garden pass and to see something there I have never seen in it's full summer time glory, water lilies.
They were absolutely amazing! I wish I could have stayed longer but the husband was getting tired of trying to keep the little one from falling in the pools.
I learned two interesting facts. They use a tiny mosquito eating black fish in the pools and they also dye the water black to hide the plumbing, set off the beauty of the flowers, prevent algae and keep the water cool.
Anyway, here are some of my favorite photos. I love the ones with the dragonflies. Be sure to click on each image to see a larger image.

Oh so absolutely gorgeous! I have always wanted a pond like that. Little far north for water lilies here, unfortunately.
