My sister's family favorite breed...they have had 5 over the years and they are a hoot. If you have steps, carry them when you can because they are prone to back problems...with those long bodies and short little legs no wonder...but aren't they fast!!! Too cute!!!! Laurie
Adorable!!!! Look out Dachshunds love to snuggle under the covers, Scooter does. And yes, they are prone to getting IVDD, my dachie/beagle mix has it. Don't let her get fat, ramps for bed/couch. Teaching her to like a crate is valuable if you ever have to crate her for 6-8 weeks for her back to heal, this helps prevent surgery. Check out http://www.dodgerslist.com/ Thanks to their advice I feel my dog is still alive and pain free after 1 1/2 years. Boo-hoo to this gloom and doom, I'm sure your sweetie will be fine, just love her, lots.
