When we arrived at my Grandmother's house in Vegas last Thursday I was surprised and delighted to see a clean, filled hummingbird feeder in her back yard. She said she had a few coming by regularly and they were very friendly. Within minutes I had snapped a few photos of a gorgeous ruby-throated male. If you know me at all, you may remember that I will sit in my yard for hours during the summer trying to get a picture of a hummer. In Vegas, I got one in 10 minutes!

Absolutely amazing! I miss my hummingbirds and cannot wait for their return. I am always on the hunt for that perfect shot of one~
Lucky girl! Great photos!
Gorgeous!
Wonderful photos Jenn! What kind of camera are you using?
Wow! How lucky you are. Great shots. Enjoy your trip,
Kat
Wonderful photos, Jennifer, thank you!
WOW! I am impressed Jen! WHAT FUN! I believe these are Black-chinned Hummers though. According to my National Geographic Field guide to North American Birds, the Ruby-Throats don't migrate that far west. (And besides, he DOES have a very black chin!! ~ LOVE the burros too!!) P.S. This could also be a Broad-Tailed Hummer, but I can't see it's tail and it does have that very dark chin!
So beautiful!!! I love them, but don't see them often, unfortunately.
OH, he was lovely! You made me smile, great shots! Loved the one showing you...waiting!
I love to photograph them! We had our first time of it years ago-in the winter. Oregon has 2 kinds that stay.I would take the feeder out at 6:30 am as it was freezing weather. We also had a 40 watt bulb with cover on the feeder during the days.
she'd be there-hovering,wating! We called her "snowflake", she had a white dot on her chest.
Awesome...so happy you got those...they are difficult to capture!
Jennifer,
As always, beautiful photos. Also congrats on hitting 500 followers. Has it been that long since I signed up as a follower? Seems like yesterday.

What a gorgeous hummingbird! Can you believe I've only just ever seen one last year? I wasn't able to get close enough with the camera - and then he flitted away. So gorgeous - and fast! Theresa
DANG! You took GREAT photos!! I've been trying for years to capture those little guys. Aren't they lovely??
Wonderful photos!! Amazing how tame the hummingbirds are in some areas of the country....
So cute!
I LOVE hummingbirds too. But I don't get to see them very often. Imagine my delight when checking out your blog. What wonderful photos.
