I am a fan of turkeys. They are sort of ugly but they are beautiful too in their own way.
Last week I watch the documentary "My Life as Turkey" on PBS. It was about a man who raised a clutch of wild turkeys from egg to adulthood. It was very interesting and at times quite sad.

Turkeys sure have some amazing feathers.
Actually the property I live on was a turkey farm wayyyyyyy back when.
I usually go to a cousin's for Thanksgiving and there are a lot of wild turkeys in their woods. Kindof ironic/creepy/funny? when they sit on their porch rails while we eat their domesticated version.

I learned to love turkeys from my friend, Sara's blog (Redpinemountain.com). She keeps her turkeys and doesn't eat them. They go for walks with her and one even was a bit amorous towards her--she had to beat them off with an umbrella as she hid under her truck!
They are certainly silly looking birds with a silly personality as well. :)

the picture of the turkey with the deer in the background is probably the BEST turkey picture I've ever seen. You need to send that somewhere!!

I love wild turkeys, they are so much fun to watch. Pretty smart and beautiful birds, too. :-)
i think they are really neat looking, ugly but cute and their feathers are gorgeous when the sun hits them
