Circle Game

We had a fabulous day at Hershey Park. 

Can you tell that the Philadelphia Toboggan Company #47 classic from 1919 has me spell bound as soon as we enter the park?   You can really appreciate the artistry that went into this ride. And to sound old

 fashioned, they just don't make 'em like they used to.

We spent the day at Hershey Park thanks to some free tickets given to us by a friend (thank you Carol!). My favorite ride is the carousel: a magical mix of stunning artistry, childhood wonder and that cool feeling you get being near something that still functions as beautifully as it did nearly 100 years ago. They don't make 'em like they used to is a line that certainly applies to the carousel. It's one of those rides that seems like it should just be for children but everyone from 1 to 100 gleefully chooses and mounts their colorful steed. The one at Hershey was made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in the early 1900's and has called this park it's home since 1944. What more can I say, it is the most romantic ride there is!

Hershey Park Happy

I took the day off today to go to Hershey Park. My husband isn't much for roller coasters but I was able to get him to ride the newest one, Fahrenheit. After a 30 minute wait, which isn't too bad for a new ride, I was not disappointed. I think it was the most thrilling coaster I had ever been on. It has a 97 degree drop which I read is currently the steepest in the US. This was followed by a series of rolls and inverted loops all of which you travel at 58 miles per hour (felt like 200 to me).

The best part of the day however, was taking our daughter around and seeing her enjoy all the kiddie rides. The carousel is my favorite and for the first time she was big enough for us to ride side by side without me holding onto her.

Here is a picture I took that I really like. We were up really high on a ferris wheel, above the new water park and a wooden coaster. Storm clouds threatening in the sky. You can see the twin smoke towers that read "Hershey" at the factory in the distance.
