Devon Horse Show

Thursday marked the opening day for The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair. The day started out cool and in the 60's and quickly progressed to hot and humid high 80's. In the afternoon a strong storm blew over  making for some dramatic photos.

Once again Elizabeth from Caracol Jewelry has asked me to display my artwork in her booth at Devon.
This year I chose 5 photographs to show. I thought they worked well with the space and beautiful jewelry.
Thank you Elizabeth for taking the following 3 photos, I left in the middle of a storm and didn't get the chance!

The Devon Horse Show IS my happy place. I will probably never get to show a horse there so I am very grateful to get to show my horse art. It is a dream come true!

Back in the Garden

My last several posts have been all about horses so I thought
it was safe to go back to some garden photos.
Above, my black hollyhock just started to bloom.

I pulled this radish from the garden recently and when I was washing it I discovered a butterfly!

The bees and butterflies love this knautia.

My neighbor's cat thinks our yard is his now.

Love these guys!

Russell the box turtle in my Mom's garden.

Okay, two more photos from the Devon Horse Show.
These are the last two photos I took on the very last day of the show.
I'd love to have that rusty metal horse head and I really like  how the vendor hung flowers around it's neck.

A lovely memory from the end of a great show.

Saddlebreds in Sepia at Devon

The light level was low on Friday evening so I thought I would try some shots with my camera set to the sepia setting (there's a b &w one here too). I love how old timey they look and I love how the motion blur conveys the speed at which the horses were travelling. Several times that night I got a bra full of sand from the flying hooves! Click on each photo for a larger image if you wish. It's neat to see the rider's expressions a little larger than blogger allows for.

If you want to see all my favorite shots from Devon (over 100),
I'm uploading them all to an album there. It's a public page so even if you are not on FB, you should be able to see them. Plus I almost have 1000 people 'like' my page and a few more would help me reach that number. Thank you!

PS. If I haven't commented on your blog lately, it's because Blogger is being a pain and not letting me! Trying to figure out why.
