Newtown Square Pumpkin Carve

Here are some photos from the pumpkin carving contest I participated in today. There weren't many carvers since this is the first year, but the ones that came did a very good job. My Headless Horseman carving took 2nd place - $50 and I got to bring my pumpkin home! I wasn't expecting such a nice prize. The best part of the day was meeting all the wonderful people that put this event together and talking with the people as they walked by.

We were awarded with a gorgeous sunset on the way home!

Almost October

Yay, October is almost here! You can almost smell the candy corn in the air. Even the new kitten is getting in on the decorating fun! I've been thinking of changing his name to "Toots" because that little critter lays the world's stinkiest farts. Honestly, how can a 2 pound animal produce such a foul odor? It's beyond me!
I took a few quick photos this afternoon while I was yammering away on the phone.

This morning I completed the Salem Riding Club sign I spent all day yesterday working on. I thought I would put it up on my blog for sale for 2 days. If it's not purchased in 2 days, I'll put it on Ebay. It measures 11" x 14". Comes signed, varnished and ready to hang. My 3 year old is so in love with this piece since it shows a young witch riding a beautiful black horse. She told me this morning it is the prettiest thing I ever painted! I hope she lets me sell it:)
Price - $125.00 + shipping

SOLD!

And if your a big Sleepy Hollow fan like I am, please check out my current Ebay auctions. I have a handpainted box and an original painting of the Headless Horseman for sale.

Pumpkin Carve Part 2

Since so many people enjoyed my pumpkins yesterday, I thought I would share some more pictures from the Chadds Ford Great Pumpkin Carve. These are not my pumpkins and I'm sorry I don't know who carved them. If you happened to be the carver of one of

these pumpkins, let me know and I'll give you credit!

Great Pumpkin Carve 2008

BEST OVERALL!

I am so happy to write that we won the pumpkin carve this year!! Our prize was a beautiful rocking chair and since I already have one from the 1st carve we won, my Mom got to take this one home. Her and my brother helped scoop out the guts and thin the wall so my design would stand out. I was very surprised that we won because there were some really nice pumpkins there. I had a hard time taking photos of the others since there was a large crowd but I managed to snap a few. One of my favorites was of the Halloween Tree. I actually had a design drawn out of a similar tree as a back up so glad I decided on the Horseman again. He never lets me down. In fact they had some really cool cutouts of the Hessian all around the main entrance.

White Pumpkins

I love white pumpkins and have been wanting to paint a sign featuring them for quite awhile. I finally painted a few on my new sign featuring a group of Halloween friends.

Great Pumpkin Carve

I'm so excited, my mom just went and paid for our entry into this year's Great Pumpkin Carve in Chadds Ford, PA (at the Historical Society, right next door to Andrew Wyeth's farm). Since she was the first to sign up we have pumpkin number one, just like last year. Perhaps we will be as lucky and win one of the fabulous prizes from Hunt Country Furniture.
I am especially excited this year because my husband is taking off work that day so our daughter can come. We'll go to Longwood Gardens early since we'll be in the area and they have the place all decked out for Fall.
Here are some photos of our pumpkins from previous carves...

And some photos of OTHER people's pumpkins over the last several years. Sorry, I don't know who the artists are.
