Farm Show!

For the first time I went to the PA Farm Show all by myself. It's the largest show of it's kind under one roof in the US. I've always wanted to go and really study the animals but it's so crowded I became frustrated and only stayed a few hours. I did manage to get some nice shots.

Today was carriage racing. I saw many of these teams compete at Devon last year. 

It's such an exciting event.

Jersey Girls Rock!

Hee hee, I bet you didn't think I was talking about cows! I LOVE Jersey cows. I dream about someday owning one. They are so sweet and those doe-like eyes I could stare into all day. Their faces truly melt my heart. Last night we went to the last day of the Manheim Farm Show. I live in Lancaster County, PA so many of the towns have farm shows in the fall and this was the last one. Not a large show but enough for me to get my cow fix for awhile.

 How could you not fall in love with that face?

 This Brown Swiss was just as pretty and she won Grand Champion.

The barns were kept very clean and nicely decorated.

Landis Valley Farm Museum

On Sunday my father treated us to a member ship at the Landis Valley Farm Museum. This weekend they were having their Harvest Days which is my favorite time of year to go. It's nice to know that we can go to all the events there for a year for free! In the spring they have a great herb and heirloom plant/seed faire. They also have a wonderful event for children at Christmas and on Sundays in the summer I believe they have ice cream socials. Plus Zoe (and I) can learn all sorts of cool things like how they used to make lace or dip candles or how they baked bread in an outdoor oven. How to use oxen to plow fields, dying, spinning and weaving wool, what an old fashioned general store looked like. I find the whole place fascinating!
