Chestnut Landing

How do you like the new look? I know it's not March yet but I thought I'd jump the gun. I've always loved March. It's the month that contains so many cool things: Spring, wild weather changes, St. Patty's Day, mine and my dh's b.days, occasionally Easter, daylight savings time...

So here's another jumper from Devon. This guys in the landing phase of the jump. Wish I could remember the names of these horses! I do think the last grey horse was named Mr. Spoon. I'm working on a gorgeous bay right now. I think he was ridden by McLain Ward.

Original mini painting (2.5" x 3.5") - "Chestnut Landing"

THANK YOU so much to everyone for their kind comments! Really keeps me going. Please accept my apologies if I"m not able to reciprocate the comments. I'm trying my best to visit everyone's blogs.

I'm tossing around the idea of selling at a horse show this summer. I think it would be a lot of fun and get me close to all those wonderful sights, sounds and smells I miss. Plus I can have the hubby man the booth while I go and take photos!
We'll see!

Selling at a horse show would be great. Your art is so lovely and I'm sure you would pick up quite a few custom orders.

Nice background for spring and banner looks good too. Ahh, horse shows, May is our first one around here at the fair grounds. Most that they have there are just fun shows and mostly local people but I still love to go and watch.
No, Gilly isn't going to any shows; although I would love to take him there just so see all the goings on. It would be good for him.
Great paintings you are turning out! Keep up the good work!

There were alot of horses in the area where I grew up - I used to LOVE hearing the names of all of them. Usually they would have a shortened version - but I loved the long formal names best.

A show would be great - you could take commissions for portraits! Plus think of all of the material!

I think you would do fabulous at a horse show. Do you know how much commission work you could end up with?...if that is what you want to do, that is!!

Love the spring, Irish look to the blog!!

Busy here too!

I really love the detailed, yet loose feel to this, Jen. You go girl!

Love your work! I think going to a horse show would be great. I've been thinking about doing the same. Just not sure how to go about it yet. It's time for more research!

Love the new look Jen!

We have a lot of art vendors at the horse shows at the Center where I work. It's a great way to get your art known and pick-up commissions.

Hon - I think we all understand - the amazing work you do can't be done while you are on the computer lol!! It always means so much to me when you pop by!! Thank you!
I think selling at the horse shows is a great idea. Good luck!

the blog looks good, love all the green :)
you don't have much to loose (price of a table/stall) by trying to sell at a horse show, I am sure you would do well with you art :D

Thanks for all the support! The show I was thinking of doing is the Waredaca Horse Trials in MD. I have heard about them so they've been around for awhile. From what I understand the vendor space is indoors or under a tent so it sounds pretty nice. Plus I love eventing so that's a big bonus!

McLain Ward has been riding Phillipa for the last four grand prixs that I watched...I this the painting you are working on?

The new looks very pretty and fresh!

Anyway, GORGEOUS paintings, as always!

Oh, and at all of the shows I have been to so far this year, people have been selling art. I think you could definitely sell some stuff there because your paintings are better than most of what was selling at the shows. Plus, like another commenter said, you would almost certainly get commissions!

Love the new look.

Setting up at shows will be perfect for you. I'd say it's a given that you should do it! I agree with JJ, you are better than most out there already.

I saw that you love eventing...ever been to Rolex? I went in '04 and am going with my daughter again this year. It's not my thing but, it's great fun out on the course.

Hi JJ, the photo I have of Mclain is from 2000, not sure of the horses name. Would love to know. It's that gorgeous dark mahogony bay with brilliant reddish brown eyes. Very striking eyes, hope I can capture them.

I have never been to Rolex Angie. I'd love to go! I hear it's extremely expensive to get a vendor booth there. I'm fairly close to Radnor & Fairhill but they are expensive too. Someday!
