Jumpers at Quentin

I was at the Quentin Riding Club this weekend for their fall hunter/jumper show and lucky me had a vendor table right near the action! I got some really wonderful shots of the jumpers (too far from the hunter ring) with my new Canon Rebel t3i. Did I mention how in love I am with this camera?

Click on the shot below, looks much cooler in a larger image.

Someone is trying to say that they are done jumping for the day...

Every rider I watched gave a pat to their partner as they left the area.
 I love those shots.

This horse's expression belongs on canvas!

Another great series of action shots.
This horse came in a bit too close to the jump but they made it!

Such a kind expression on this chestnut.
Don't you want to just give him a kiss?

The red barns of Quentin made for a nice backdrop to some shots.

Picture perfect grey jumper.

And another beautiful horse and rider team.

An adorable pony warming up in the hunter ring.
 Too cute not to include.

What delight
To back the flying steed, that challenges
The wind for speed! - seems native more of air
Than earth! - whose burden only lends him fire! -
Whose soul, in his task, turns labour into sport;
Who makes your pastime his! I sit him now!
He takes away my breath! He makes me reel!
I touch not earth - I see not - hear not. All
Is ecstasy of motion!

I don't know how I get into show photography, but it would sure be a dream job:)
I posted a few more photos from the day on my Facebook Page.

Let the show begin!

Today is the first day of the Devon Horse Show but I got a little behind the scenes peek when I went to hang some of my paintings in the Caracol Inspired Jewelry booth yesterday (adjacent to the warm up ring if you are going). I wasn't able to get many photos of the horses but let me tell you, I was in heaven. Both rings were full of some of the finest riders in the country all preparing their mounts for the show.

All of my paintings were created from reference photos I had taken at the Devon Horse Show over the years. This bay beauty is a side saddle mount.

If you make it to Devon this year please be sure to stop by the Caracol booth!

Chestnut Landing

How do you like the new look? I know it's not March yet but I thought I'd jump the gun. I've always loved March. It's the month that contains so many cool things: Spring, wild weather changes, St. Patty's Day, mine and my dh's b.days, occasionally Easter, daylight savings time...

So here's another jumper from Devon. This guys in the landing phase of the jump. Wish I could remember the names of these horses! I do think the last grey horse was named Mr. Spoon. I'm working on a gorgeous bay right now. I think he was ridden by McLain Ward.

THANK YOU so much to everyone for their kind comments! Really keeps me going. Please accept my apologies if I"m not able to reciprocate the comments. I'm trying my best to visit everyone's blogs.

I'm tossing around the idea of selling at a horse show this summer. I think it would be a lot of fun and get me close to all those wonderful sights, sounds and smells I miss. Plus I can have the hubby man the booth while I go and take photos!
We'll see!

Hunter's Moon

I've finally finished my painting, "Hunter's Moon" and had to share. I struggled a bit with this one but I think I finally have it at where I'm happy. It is an arcylic on gallery wrapped canvas, measuring 12" x 12".
I will list it on ebay later today.
Thanks for looking!
