In the three previous times I've been to Las Vegas, I've never seen the wild burros around Red Rock Canyon but this time I got lucky!
When we saw the first one, I nearly jumped out of the moving van!
My Mom is a huge animal lover and can't resist a quick pat.
I think this is a jenny and her baby from last year.
How sweet this guy is.
I think he wanted to come home with us! He would like my back yard.
They look so neat against the mountains and desert!
At nearby Bonnie Springs Ranch I found some horses to photograph. We were shooed away by a worker so I didn't get many. The horses seemed well cared for but we didn't have the time or money for a ride.
I can't imagine how much hay costs out here.
More animals to come!

Jennifer, these are fabulous photos!!!
You're so lucky!!! Those burros look so sweet. I want one now. I wonder why they shooed you away from the horse operation.
Wonderful post! Love all the pictures! Very cute :)
Those burros are super cute!! Great photos, as always, too :)
Oh neat! They are fantastic! And look at that deep blue sky!
You got some fantastic shots.
There are Kiger mustangs in the Steens Mountains here in Oregon and I have ALWAY wanted to go see them. Haven't made it yet but it is on my bucket list.
This entry made me so, so happy. Love the ears and the noses and the dorsal stripes!!! Squee.
Love the pictures! Those burros are so handsome!
I LOVE donkey's! Thanks for posting those, I am very jealous !!
You're doing the whirlwind tour!
I'm glad the burros came out to say hello ... that first picture is priceless!
P.S. - Hay is about $16 for a bale of alfalfa. Yep, it's true.
Gorgeous photos! You're braver than me...I'm more used to small animals- you know, cat sized- I'm not sure I'd trust them!
awww the burros are so cute :D
Great pics, as always... looks like a fun trip !!!
I just adore mules - they are too cute. I would have wanted to take one home, too! Every time I see an animal, I always want to "bring it home." LOL Great photos! Theresa
The burros are adorable! I'm surprised they are so friendly.
Being from California, I spent a lot of time in Vegas and loved it. I'm your basic Westerner-love the desert etc. I had a chance to see the burros on one of my visits to the area. Great photos! Feed is expensive. When we had our training barn at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in the 80's we were paying $12-16 for a bale of alfafa or oat hay. Shavings were $10 for a small bale that would barely cover the floor of the stall. Bulk shavings were non-existant. But I still love it there :)
The Burros are so cute. Will they find their way into a painting or two?

Fun photos Jen! I love Burros! I used to work at the Burro trail at Knott's Berry Farm and we groomed and saddled about 15 burros a day for the kiddies to ride. I never tired of thier wonderful brays! lol Alfalfa hay is about 12-14 dollars a bale out here. Timothy is about 22ish.
