The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn was a pretty neat movie back in the 80's when I was a kid. I decided to put the dvd in and show my 3 year old daughter the other day and she quickly lost interest. I guess it can't compete with today's computer animated movies like Toy Story and Wall-E.

What this post is really about is my last holiday sign of 2008. I was asked by a few people to paint another "Believe" unicorn sign and since I was without the child today and the snow was falling and I was listening to my newly created, super cool Christmas playlist (look to the right and hit the play button), I decided to comply with their wishes.
I also finished a winter welcome Dutch bunny sign. Since I was in such a good mood, I started that one out on ebay with no reserve. Yes, that's right, the bidding starts at one cent!

Both of these signs end on Friday so if the high bidder pays promptly I will get them in the mail on Saturday. Plenty of time to have them hanging for Christmas or wrapped up and under the tree for someone special.

This is a detail image of a sign I am putting on ebay tonight. The sign will be personalized for the high bidder. I think it would make a fabulous Christmas gift!

My second Headless Horseman painting on masonite. This one is larger than the last,
it measures 11" x 14". It's called "Horseman's Lament". I thought that maybe the HH and his steed get tired of wreaking havoc and just wants to rest in peace.

This & That

I have a few new pieces up on ebay. One of them is a challenge piece for my AHAO group (American Holiday Artists Ornaments). Our theme was Alice in Halloweenland so I made a Mad Hatter. It is my first sculpted piece out of paperclay. Lots of fun, can't wait to play more with it.





I was able to complete two signs today since my husband took off work and watched our little one. Another Sleepy Hollow Tavern sign and a Raven's Claw Tavern sign. I'm very happy with how they turned out!





On a final note, if you're in Michigan, wave good bye to the McCain campaign. I just heard on the news they are pulling out. No, just kidding! Night Owl

Just completed and listed on ebay my Night Owl Cafe sign. Please check it out when you have a chance. It is my first owl sign and I love how it turned out.

Also coming up this week are two challenge pieces I've created. The one is for EHAG's Creey Confections and Tricky Treats Challenge. The other is for AHAO's Alice in Halloweenland Challenge. Both pieces are 3-D and made out of paperclay. Thought I would do something a little different and unexpected since they are challenges.

Tricks for Treats

I had SO much fun painting my newest Halloween piece.
Reminiscent of Roy Roger's Trigger, I've painted a lovely palomino horse and his black cat pal performing some tricks in hopes of receiving treats. He's already gotten an apple and some carrots in his jack o' lantern pail, perhaps he is looking for a bunch of fresh catnip for the kitty now. There is a witch flying in front of the blue moon and each animal is wearing a colorful collar for the holiday.

Nightmares, Fleet Foxes and Blog Awards

I just finished a new sign today and I'm so excited to post some photos of it.
It's a Night Mare Cafe sign and I have painted a leaping white horse that looks as if she is trying to rid herself of ghosts and bats. I think this would look so cool in someone's kitchen or dining room around Halloween.

I've also painted a smaller sign with a ghost horse. She has small ghosts flowing out from her mane and tail.




Okay, so here I go with the recommendations again. I am absolutely in love with this band called Fleet Foxes. You can visit their Myspace page and listen to their music. I will try and create a music playlist for this blog over in the right hand column too. They were just in Philly and I'm sorry I missed them.
